Responsible use of chemicals in all production processes
No harmful chemicals! Thanks to ZDHC MRSL list of banned substances. MRSL stands for “Manufacturing Restricted Substances List” and refers to a catalogue of chemicals that are prohibited, or that may not exceed strict concentration limits throughout the complete production process.

Securing highest standards for finished products
Our Green Book contains stringent requirements for the finished product. In addition to the ZDHC MRSL, we have implemented our own “Restricted Substances List” (RSL) which governs substances and residues in our finished products, including all fabrics and all components such as buttons and zips.

Eco-friendly use of packaging material
We avoid packaging waste wherever possible. It is not possible to completely eliminate protective packaging for our products, such as that used when they are transported in containers. We have, however, taken a raft of measures to reduce packaging waste wherever possible.

Combating microplastics together
We are working on industry solutions for dealing with microplastics. It’s not just large volumes of plastic waste that are polluting the environment; microplastics – minute and barely visible plastic particles – are increasingly becoming a problem.

Green electricity
We use green electricity, some of which we generate ourselves. In addition to reducing our electricity consumption, we also focus on the use of renewable energy. Since 2012, we have converted the power supply at our Jack Wolfskin headquarters in Idstein, the Jack Wolfskin distribution centre in Neu Wulmstorf and all except for one Jack Wolfskin-owned retail store in Germany and Austria to green electricity. We even generate some of this energy ourselves, using photovoltaic installations at our sites in Idstein and Neu-Wulmstorf.

Green travel
We pay heed to green travel – even regarding business travel. Protecting the environment also means a lot to us even when it comes to business travel, whether short or long-distance travel. In concrete terms, this means that Jack Wolfskin staff are very much encouraged to take the train for all business travel within Germany and to the neighbouring countries.

Sustainable shopfitting
Fixtures and fittings as well as lighting in our stores are environmentally friendly. When it comes to fitting out stores, we also look to focus on sustainability and completely avoid using PVC. We focus on choosing long-lasting natural materials such as locally sourced wood as well as elements that can be recycled so they hardly make an impact on the environment. It is also important that the construction elements can be reused. Moreover, we have introduced an energy-saving lighting concept.

Forest conservation
In 2021, together with all of you, we managed to conserve 25,000m² of European beech forests for the next 50 years. We donated a sum of 100,000 euros from profits earned during the NATURE COUNTS promotion period to ‘Wohllebens Waldakademie’ (Forest Academy run by Peter Wohlleben) for the forest conservation project.

Our commitment to Science-Based Targets

In November 2023, Jack-Wolfskin proudly committed to Science-Based Targets (SBT), aligning with Paris Agreement goals. This initiative stood for our dedication to sustainability, pledging to set and achieve 5-10 years of near-term emission reduction targets before 2030. By addressing climate change, we aim to positively impact our customers, supply chain partners, and the environment.
